When I don't have my own I also buy as locally as possible.

Brandywines are good - I have two planted this year. I also have Mortgage Lifter which you really should try, or Marianna's Peace. I've got 8 or more heritage types, love the cherry tomatoes for snacking :D

I would so love a proper hothouse.

We had a lady come up to us while we were picking out tomatoes at the grocery store a couple of weeks ago, she was going on and on that we shouldn't buy those tomatoes because they're were from Mexico and not Canada. I told her I was buying them to make salsa for a snack that night and the Mexican tomatoes would be perfect for that and thanked her for the tip :)

Her face turned redder than the whole bin of tomatoes. LOL!

But isn't that the truth about most produce from out of the country. They are picked so green, that by the time they get here, they are ripe, but tasteless. How about California strawberries, cherries, peaches. I could go on. At least try to buy local, or BC at the least.

My Wife asked me if I knew what her favorite flower was?
Apparently "Robin Hood All Purpose" was the wrong answer!

I have about 30 or so plants this year. Getting close to snacking time - my first year growing a tumbler and I'm pleased with how early they'll be ready :)

I will be canning the large tomatoes that don't get eaten right away.
