Childrens chewable multivitamins - safe?

Post by Thinktank »

Considering the fact there are more kids in Canada with ADHD than any time in history, autism rates are going through the roof, alzheimers disease is becoming epidemic and Parkinsons disease is on the rise I'm wondering why anyone would feed their kids chewable multivitamins
that contain:

- sodium aluminum silicate,
- propylene glycol ( antifreeze)
- maltodextrin
- blue #2
- red #3
- yellow #6
- sucralose
- and a whole bunch of other chemicals

Do you think children's chewable multivitamins from certain vitamin companies in Canada are a good idea? (not sure if all multivitamins contain these obscene ingredients) Why on earth would a multivitamin contain blue2, red3 and yellow6? If an artist mixes those colors he gets 'mud.'

What do you think happens when you eat a red apple, blueberries and a yellow banana and it goes through your system?

My son has an allergy to food colouring so no we do not use multi vitamins. Honestly, you don't need them if you eat a well balanced diet.

Think I gave them to my kids once during the winter and when the bottle was done that was it. We eat well so no worries.

Here's something to think about:

West Vancouver and Whistler have some of the highest incomes per person in Canada.
Quesnel and Williams Lake have some of the lowest incomes per person.
Kelowna ad Penticton are somewhere in the middle - income wise.

West Van and Whistler have almost no kids with ADHD.
Quesnel and Williams Lkae have way higher numbers of ADHD kids than average.
Kelowna and Penticton have average numbers of ADHD kids - about one in ten.

Now - do you still want to buy the cheapest kids vitamins loaded with aluminum and tons of other chemicals for $2.00 at a Looney store? Do you think that's a smart investment?

You don't read much do you?

Someone write an incredible article about Ritalin and ADHD in BC about twenty years ago.
Vancouver Sun and Penticton Herald printed it.
Not often does someone do that kind of research and get it into the newspapers.
