Re: Magic mushrooms and depression
I think all hallucinogens are best used as medicine for the mind, rather than recreational.`
Shrooms for the blues.
They're even find that MDMA is proving to be very useful in treating PTSD.
Acid (LSD) has it's uses too.
They all do it seems.
I thought I was just having fun. Little did I know I was fixing my $#&*!

Study finds psychedelic drugs may reduce domestic violence
Psychedelic drugs may help curb domestic violence committed by men with substance abuse problems, according to a new UBC study. The UBC Okanagan study found that 42 per cent of U.S. adult male inmates who did not take psychedelic drugs were arrested within six years for domestic battery after their release, compared to a rate of 27 per cent for those who had taken drugs such as LSD, psilocybin (commonly known as magic mushrooms) and MDMA (ecstasy).

won't it be great if this turns out to save so many people from years of misdiagnosis and piles of pills they never needed.

Memorable, or unforgettable?
I've also has some awakenings from LSD back when it was clean.
Mushroom sludges suck.
The way 'cid keeps your brain working even after you fall can be a drag.
Those were my two heavy hallucination trips I'd travel.
Then...came...salvia.
OMG.
I think all hallucinogens have their place, and when used wisely can be of great benefit. The problem lies with people that run too hard and too fast into the unknown.
Sometimes, ya gotta go slow to avoid quicksand.
Terrence McKenna speaks a lot about the benefits of going on trips.
Ancient cultures the world over used hallucinogens that were available to them. It's always been a part of connecting to the spirit world, another ethereal plane, the matrix or other dimensions.
Choose your flavor.

Everything has it's place.
As long as its Nature derived and naturally existing... I'm okay with it.
Chemicals and toxins being added... I'm out.

LSD has it's place, although I do tend to follow what you wrote.
I'm not a fan of designer drugs or chemical warfare as I call it, but there are oddities that don't come directly from nature, yet have proven great worth in science and medical fields.

Re: Magic mushrooms and depression
The problem with magic mushrooms is when you come down off them.
I did a TON of them throughout college with my friends and almost every single time, we'd get severely depressed in that final hour or so when things were waning.
Amazingly great the rest of the time... but that last little bit of "high" would only make depressed people even worse IMO.

Sure, if you want to permanently damage your brain and probably wake up one day with half functional brain.
If you are interested in mushrooms, look for lion's mane mushroom. This one actually improves brain health, memory, and mood. It may help with depression. Read more: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/paul-stam ... 25583.html
You can buy it fresh, powder, or capsules from health/supplement stores, or check out a nootropic called Mind Lab Pro http://www.mhrc.cc/brain-supplements/mind-lab-pro.html
Psychoactive mushrooms can either be medicine or disease. Choose the healthy species and avoid the risky ones.
