Needing help with doctors

Post by saniel24 »

Hi, I am a student who had moved here for school and I am in search for a doctor to support me in a stress leave for work. It seems IMPOSSIBLE to find a doctor who is accepting new patients and I don't know if walk in doctors will help me with this situation. I know all the help and advice I can get please!

you should pretty easily be able to get a prescription pad note from any walk in.

I think a walk-in doc will take care of that for you.

I agree the place to start is a walk-in doctor. They are there for people who have medical needs yet don't have a full time physician.

Your situation sounds a little more complicated than just asking for a prescription for an infection though. But at least you'll have a doctor to talk to. A walk-in doctor may be able to help or, if not, they'd at least point you in the right direction. You have nothing to lose except the cost of the visit (if you don't have insurance).

I really think you'll have a hard time finding a doctor to help otherwise.

On Hwy 33 by Rutland Road there is a virtual clinic - I've never been but I understand someone from the forum has seen a web md, and had a good experience. If only I could remember who. ferri? gardengirl? :132:

If you are a student at a recognized college, they have counsellors who can direct you to the medical care you require. Check with Student Services at your educational facility.

this is a service i have used numerous times when i didn't need to physically be seen by a doctor. they can often get you in the same day (sometimes within a few minutes or an hour or so) or you can schedule an appointment with a doctor for whenever works for you:

https://eqvirtual.com/british-columbia/en/

it is a video chat, so you need a camera and microphone. you can use it on your cellphone, tablet, computer, etc.

they can refer you to specialists, send prescriptions to your pharmacy of choice, and do lab requisitions for blood work, etc.
