Cold & Flu

Post by Lady tehMa »

Is it just me, or is it particularly bad this year?

Husband had the flu (and he "never" gets sick), daughter had it. Friends, co-workers all had it. I had a bit of a cold, but I have heard people barking with a rattle in their chest that is just scary (especially in older folks, like my parents).

I had one day (Friday) where I felt "off" and slept a bunch, but I had the flu shot in November so I'm hoping I just got enough immunity to bypass the days of illness.
I haven't failed until I quit.

It's really bad this year. Many off sick at work, lock downs in many facilities, both govt and independent living.

One place has Norwalk.
As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?

Norwalk again? YIKES. :runforlife:

I heard 15 elderly folk in the Kelowna area have passed because of this illness.

I don't think Norwalk is the flu - it's a norovirus that is just as awful though.

That's correct, it isn't the flu, but Norwalk is going through an independent seniors resort and they are in lock down in their suites.

The outbreak of influenza within the Okanagan is worse than it was two years ago.

http://www.castanet.net/edition/news-st ... htm#185650
The Okanagan has been hit particularly hard.

Of the four regions within Interior Health, deBruin says the Okanagan has recorded more cases of influenza this season.

"Of the 212 lab confirmed cases, 127 were in the Okanagan," said deBruin.

And it's not finished yet....

Don't think they locked down Brookhaven quick enough if they ever did.

pretty simple

1. you have not been exposed to the virus in sufficient quantity to cause infection.
2. You immune system has been able to fight it off before getting ill.

why would you ask a dumb question like that

Some people can be infected with the flu virus but have no symptoms. During this time, those persons may still spread the virus to others.

Simple defense against colds, flu & Norwalk.... if you touch items wash your hands before touching your face/nose & mouth/entry points.
If not expect to be sick yourself
