Metro Vancouver doctors are seeing a surge of unvaccinated young people asking for the measles vaccine. This is as nine cases of the virus have been documented in the region.

"I've seen youth as young as 14 years old coming in on their own and asking to receive vaccines,” Dr. Eric Cadesky told CTV News.

Cadesky says he’s heard from a number of doctors experiencing a similar spike in young people asking to be vaccinated.

"My mom was very anti-vaxx, she was into homeopathy and more ‘natural’ solutions,” 23-year-old Maddi Bisset told CTV. “You need to definitely talk to professionals and even talk to friends and ask them what they think because even me talking to my friends realized that I'm not the norm and that what my parents are telling me is not the full truth.”

Those born before 1970 have immunity through exposure, according to the BC Centre for Disease Control, while those born after should have the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine.

It's suggested that infants receive their first MMR vaccine about their first birthday, with a booster shot in kindergarten.

Maybe they should - the results are clear:

The news release added that the policy, which Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull introduced in 2016, has led to 246,000 children being vaccinated.

:topic: There is a bit of information of interest in this article:

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british- ... -1.5023603
Measles spread in B.C. after a Vancouver family travelled to Vietnam. The family's three children had not been vaccinated against it. Cases are now affecting staff, students and family members at École Jules-Verne and École Anne-Hébert in South Vancouver.

Measles has nearly been eradicated in many parts of the world, but there has been a resurgence in recent years.

Is the measles vaccine mandatory in B.C. schools?
Currently, no. In Ontario, Manitoba and New Brunswick, the measles vaccine is mandatory for attendance in public schools unless an exemption is issued.

Thousands ill, 136 dead from measles.

With global travel so prevalent it is just a matter of days before a few infected peeps pass the joy around here.

Two hours after an infected peep leaves a room the virus particles are still airborne and can infect new entrants. Why risk deafness or death? The virus also erases immunity memory so that you can be reinfected with a disease you had previously contracted, survived and produced immunity to. What a horror a case of measles is and how very EASY to avoid.

Get your kids vaccinated!

I think people should be cautious and be allowed to choose if vaccination is right for their child. Too much money involved in the pharmaceutical industry that’s tied to politics.

Your wrong.
People with compromised immune systems should get vaccinated.
I've posted that a few times and you just ignore it.
I'm immune compromised and I know that you are wrong about this.
Do you ever research anything that you post?
It doesn't look like it.

You can get shots to prevent shingles. Not covered by Blue Cross, think the two shots are around 140. Need a Drs script
