Pesticides around the yard.
The gardeners were over and I asked them how we can reduce some of the weeds that grow up through the rocks and a few other problem areas that come back every season.
The gent rambled off a whole list of things ranging from organic to the stuff only he can sell me
We have kids and dogs so I'd like to get something that isn't obviously going to promote tumours, but I also don't want something that is benign and barely works. I simply don't believe in using Vinegar for everything.
There's so much information out there, I wouldn't mind some condensed suggestions from the experienced green thumbs out there.
Thank you in advance.

Re: Pesticides around the yard.
Get some casoron.....granular, apply in fall or spring, make sure it is rained on...dependent on whether there are other plants you want to protect or if is as described. Again, dependent on weeds, devrinol or 2-4d. There is a pile of stuff out there that works really well.
But none of it is organic.
You can have organic or you can have something that works. Pick one.

Okay, I'll do the casoron for the rock bed that doesn't need anything coming up out of it.

It's really perfect for that. If you put it on now, water the heck out of it.

Pesticides are for Bugs and Herbicides are for plants. If you use one instead of the other you will be disappointed.

If you have pets and or children you might want to check it out.
Quote " appeared to be Casoron weed killer. I looked up information on Casoron and this is what I found.
“HAZARDS TO HUMANS AND DOMESTIC ANIMALS CAUTION Causes moderate eye irritation. Harmful if swallowed. Avoid contact with skin, eyes or clothing. Avoid breathing dust. Keep all unprotected persons, children, livestock, and pets away from treated area or where there is a danger of drift. Do not rub eyes or mouth with hands.” "

How about, pull em out by hand..if they bother you that much?
I get it when it comes to farming, but being little lazy?
Where do you think those pesticides end up? Right. In the okanagan reservoirs. The water we all drink... unless you import.

Would so rather be over educated that a knuckle dragging Neanderthal bereft of critical thought and imagination. Although in the case of Neanderthals, that's quite the insult.

Pulling them out by hand is not an option.
I believe there are better ways to spend ones time.

No, not lazy. I already stated that we have the gardeners take care of the yard. I just want them to take an approach that doesn't cause the kids and dogs to develop tumours.
I thinks in efficient to pay a few guys to manually pull weeds.

Boil your kettle and cook 'em. About 500 mL of boiling water each weed will do. This will be something you have to do, your gardener will look at you funny if you ask.
