Okay - here are the all time top five modern things that make us live longer:

#5 - Improvements in sanitation.
Image

#4 - Improvements in food distribution and refrigeration
Image

#3 - Improvements in standard of living - we are much richer
Image

#2 - Machines do the work for us. So we live longer.
Image

#1 - The absolute top reason we live longer - is an old obsolete technology - rubbing cow pus into a healthy person's bloodstream - known as vaccination.

Image
^ That's the#1 reason we're living longer. It costs $2.00 to produce a vaccine, and can be given to millions of people in a short time (it doesn't take a lot of brains to administer a vaccine) and we live to a hundred because of it.

five thumbs up for vaccines, and the other four modern things.

You do know refrigeration started in the 1700's - same as smallpox vaccine? The toilet was invented in the 1500's I believe.
You seem to be referring to the "industrial revolution".

You were talking about sanitation and vaccines on this thread:

Can anyone guess which of those five things doesn't belong?

(hint: - one of those things costs only $2.00 to manufacture - it's cheap
Everything else is expensive)

Where do you get these ideas? The fluid came from a person, not a cow.

drops of fluid from the newly-developed sores on her hands and arms

So we're only going to give the Africans a $2.00 thing - a vaccine.

We're not going to give them expensive things - nope -that would cost money.

and how is that working out?

Image
^ our free vaccines just didn't do it for them.

Vaccines do not make people live longer.

If you want to talk about vaccines, this is the thread:

You do realize children need to take the vaccines. According to the news, almost 10 million African children are not fully immunized.

And your map is outdated.

All those millions of children and adults that don't die of smallpox, measles, etc,? they certainly have lived longer.
Other reasons why people live longer: antibiotics, chlorinated water, ER's

Wow - a $2.00 thing given to Africa by us made them live to 45. While we pay $billions on good stuff
like treated seage and clena water for ourselves and we live to 80. or 100.

We're great. We made Africans live one extra year - with $2.00 vaccines.

a $2.00 thing.

a $2.00 thing

Why the misinformation? The life expectancy is much higher.

The population in Africa has also grown astronomically, and will continue to grow, because that $2.00 (and probably a few other investments) has bought many more lives.
