Anything to do with IHA is worthless. That whole section should be disbanded and fire every one of those employees. I hope that they all have to go through what I have. They have no understanding or compassion, what-so-ever. They are just another paper pushing, teat sucking employee.

You have not really said what the problem was that you had with IHA. When you were looking for help for your mother were you dealing with the hospital or with home support? Are you still dealing with IHA now and having problems? It may be that you are just not talking to the right people at IHA.

Every time I made any attempt to ask for help, I was referred to "intake". I could not even get any assistance or guidance with getting a diagnosis. They had nothing to offer or become involved in unless Mom had physical issues. I was left to deal with her mental issues on my own.
IHA is useless when it comes to Alzheimer's and/or dementia.

I believe "intake" is at the hospital.
Sounds like you had a diagnosis----dementia.
There is help available for dementia in the form of
home support (ie: bathing respite etc).
I think you were talking to the wrong people.
It does not matter now though does it as your mother is in a facility
now isn't she?
Sounds like your pretty angry though and how does that saying go,
you get more bees with honey.

So are you saying your mother received home support, bathing, respite etc?

My Stepmom was given lots of help until my Stepbrother the druggie went off on a caregiver and they refused to come to the house after that. She would't kick him out so got no help.
I got Married because I was sick and tired of finishing my own sentences.
That's worked out great for me!

It took pretty drastic measures for me to even get any help with obtaining a diagnosis. I knew something was wrong, there were many indicators and I knew what was wrong, but they wouldn't get involved or assist me in getting a proper diagnosis and put a label on what I already suspected.
I called IHA and asked,
"What should I do, and how do I go about it?". Their reply was,
"Does she need help with showering or going to the bathroom?"
I said, "No". They said,
"we can't help you".

I tried twice, and got the same scripted response.

Is there any wonder as to why I feel so bitter towards IHA?

I would never reach out and ask IHA for assistance again.

A doctor (GP) could have probably helped you.
There are tests that can be done to determine dementia.
Did you take her to a GP?
There are many different avenues with IHA.
You were just talking to the wrong people I think.

YES, I was talking to the wrong people, and those people were IHA. I did finally get help through her GP, supported by CAT scans. The DR. put in a request to IHA, they called and talked to Mom, that was useless. I pressed and pushed but always was referred to "Intake", and they were NO help.
It took 1 year to get a referral to Seniors Health at Cottonwoods for a MMSE. By that time, I was told that she could not be left alone or without supervision 24/7.
If I could have had the exam and results earlier, I could have prepared better.
