Front teeth knocked out. Awful but expensive - ideas?

Post by teach76 »

Just how DO you compare costs between dentists?

I need 2 dental implants with a bridge. I have the panoramic CT scan done and all the info needed, and am getting a quote from Legato Dentistry in a few days. They are of course very professional - but they are a "premium" office. Dental implants are also done in less specialized offices too, and I'm not sure how to balance the costs.

Has anyone gone through the search and what did you decide? I am a retired teacher and money is also a concern. I have even had work done in Mexico already, but this is more serious this time. I knocked out my front teeth playing pickleball and it is super terrible!

Has anyone had to navigate this or know from a family member who has gone through this and what would be your advice?

Do NOT do this one in Mexico. In an area that is very visible, doesn’t it make sense to get a quality job?

Not that I have any knowledge firsthand but what about all the Canadians that go down there to get dental work done (amongst a lot of other procedures)??
Truths can be backed up by facts - do you have any?

I know many peo0le that have traveled to Mexico for dental work.....lots right across the border from Yuma. Many times it was an American dentist doing the work. A bit of research and you will be fine....

Okey dokey.......implants are different than fillings.
I would never risk it.

I haven't had to navigate your specific situation but I've had major dental operations a few times over. If I'm allowed to recommend people, I say talk to Dr. Phil at Peachland Dental. If he can't help you he'll find someone awesome who can.

mostly wondering if local dentists had different prices - 2 implants and a crown can really vary apparently but I'd have to go out of Kelowna. ($10,000 - 12,000 - so that's why I'm hoping to find some savings...but ya just can't seem to find out specifics.
Anyone have a recent prices for similar work?

I have had one eyetooth implanted, things went wrong. That dentist no longer in business, basically run out of town.

Then I needed a bone implant and then a new tooth implant as mess caused by dentist # 1. Job done by specialist dentist (#2)

Things went well for a few years then, due to not cleaning deeply enough by a regular everyday dentist, I am now looking at two more surgeries to clean up the resulting infection.

Total bill will be $19,000.00 just for that one tooth.

If you want the name of the specialist who did it second time around, a pro who teaches other pros worldwide, PM me. She is in Kamloops. Does good work.

In retrospect, how I wish I'd NOT gone to regular dentist for cleaning but rather had used dentist #2's cleaning specialist instead.
Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice. There’s a certain point at which ignorance becomes malice, at which there is simply no way to become THAT ignorant except deliberately and maliciously.
