Bang on, George+. You're completely right; there is no mention of the NDP in that BCTF commercial. It only suggests voting for a Govt that will support kids (remember, families first?) and teaching in general. Spending money on advertising, Urbane? You're essentially comparing the BCTF to a political party since you're referencing the advertising of the Liberal Party and that of the BCTF and you're not entirely wrong. While the BCTF right now functions as a quasi-political party as an arm of the NDP there is an important distinction to be noted. Anyone is free to join or not to join the BC Liberal Party. Public school teachers on the other hand must belong to the BCTF. And they pay dues. And whether or not they support the NDP part of their dues goes toward these pro-NDP ads. And don't you see the hypocrisy in those ads when they claim there's not enough money for education and then you find out that in Vancouver School District this last year $1.6 million was spent on teacher massages? How many people here think that's a good use of public money? How many think that there's a better use?

and anyone that gets a job at mcdonalds, tim hortons, or any other fast food joint knows that they are going to get minimum wage. no one holds a gun to their head either and they know what they are getting into. if you want to be a teacher then caveat emptor. you know exactly what you are signing up for - years before you sign your contract and you are in university. nothing wrong with the teachers being a union at all.

Right. Until they decide that their selfish needs outweigh the needs of the kids, and they go on strike. Then there are huge moral and economic issues with them being in a union. And that's just not right. No one should be given the power to use children as a bargaining tool. That's just morally wrong, and there's something wrong in your head if you think that is ok.

So what party is that? What party is going to "support kids"?? I have yet to see any party put out a platform. The only thing regarding George that is "bang on" is his need to be checked into a mental health facility, he's a brain-damaged lying communist.

Jack Layton, the BCTF's folk hero, spent lots of time in massage parlours. That must be why the teachers spent $1.6 million on rub'n'tugs too!

Question for George and Sooperphreek: How much should the $1.6 million budget for teacher massages in Vancouver be increased? I realize if the budget is increased to $2 million a year you would both consider that increase a "cut" so how much should the budget for massages be increased?

Teachers should not be allowed to strike, if they do not do their job , fire them , there are a lot of teachers looking for work.Govt. should make a law that they should get x # of % increase if they do the job.
