Immersion blenders are corded or have a rechargeable battery. Preferable to use one with a cord - ones with rechargeable batteries tend to feel heavy when using for any length of time. If you decide on the battery operated one, check and see how easy it is to purchase a replacement battery if needed.

If you want a top-rated blender, you might consider the Breville BSB510XL - Amazon price $79.99.

It's one of those gadgets that gets used once or twice then sits in the drawer taking up space for years!
First question to ask yourself is do you really need one.
My Wife asked me if I knew what her favorite flower was?

I use mine almost daily. The mini processer is great for chopping garlic.

I have this one and love it. I found the additional accessories were going to be space vampires.

I have a Breville and it is far better quality than the last two I had.... I think one was a cheapy generic but the last one was a Cuisinart.
Pricey (although the kids bought us this one :D ) but we use ours enough that we don't want to replace it every year. We've had this one for 3 years now. We have several other Breville small appliances as well, and find them to be very high quality.
