You might try the chip haulers.

Having said that Truck driving is a mugs game. It is one of the few jobs where you can make an honest mistake and wind up in jail for manslaughter, no job pays enough for that level of risk.
I have a laundry list of reasons why truck driving is a bad deal.
Been there, done that.

Ya I know the risks.. but hopefully I wont be one of those drivers. It takes great responsibility to drive around 80, 000 lbs. I have a mechanical background so ya.. I would be checkin brakes properly. Kinda scary how some truck drivers dont know anything about their truck !!! Some very famous people including !!! Not gonna say who ..but yeah..damn !!!

I could be wrong here, I believe I Think was maybe referring to suicide by truck driver. Its sad, unfortunately it happens.
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests.

Chambers, Yellow and a couple of others.
I think a couple of them will let you start as a swamper until you know the ropes.

Driving is very unhealthy, you are in a sometimes stressful situation, with no way ( you just sit) to burn off the adrenalin.
Also look at the physiology of long time drivers, they tend to have kegs where their six packs should be, it is so easy to snack away the miles.

I would think the training company should be able to provide you with suggestions of who is willing to take you on... that should have been included in what you paid for. Good luck in your new endeavour.

You might try around Lumby, you could get a job driving a gravel bucket for a forestry road builder. Wait til the snow is gone,
handling a semi on warm ice can be exciting.

I'll chime in. Don't expect to go tractor trailer straight off the hop.
Get a position on a loading dock and let your manager know of your intentions to work into a driving position.
Take opportunities to drive, even body jobs, even unpaid, to gain seat time to hone your skills.

Food services..Sysco, GFS and the like.
Soft Drink...Coke, Pepsi and the like.
Courier and General Freight Companies

Other than that, although not local, Bison Transport has what I've read to be a Industry leading
and award winning New driver training and mentorship program as well as an in-house Simulator
as long as you sign on for a min. of two years.

Good Luck, Our Country needs good new operators.

(seat warmers and steering wheel holders need not apply)

Guess you gotta become the competition and become O/O right away !! Its so risky spending 4000 $ to be just an entrylevel driver and not get hired. Wait two yrs. Somehow gain experience... then go work for a measely 1.10$ a mile ..and take the risk of doing the repairs on your truck !!! Tell anyone those shady facts.. and you know what they'll say !!! Oh hell no !!! Lol !

I don't know if you saw this ad?

http://classifieds.castanet.net/details ... r/2561105/

They are hiring new comers... They seem decent, as long as they don't demand that you drive b trains right away...

I hope you find what you need.

Have you checked out lower mainland ads for drivers? There is a lot of goods that go to and from the West Coast.

Not trying to discourage you, quite the opposite.
Just trying to put things in perspective.

A new truck, +/- $150,000.00, trailer(s)+/- $ 70,000.00, add liability and cargo insurance,
licencing and taxation, levies and fees.

You cannot expect someone to just hand you a set of keys and send you on your way.

You will need to start on the dock or in the ditch to work your way gradually into the seat.

Licencing mills do a wonderful job........at painting rosey pictures to starry eyed prospects.

They do very little if anything to educate you on the actual job of transportation of goods,
compliance of regulations, personal safety, health and wellness, etc..
