1lb. propane bottle refills .

Post by MAPearce »

Anyone know of who will or how to refill those one pound propane bottles used on camping stoves ?

I know they say you can't on the label but knew a guy who ran a wilderness resort who could and did .

It's a safety thing. Nobody that is licensed will fill them. They're dirt cheap - buy new ones....

Have you ever seen a Propane cannister explode? It's not a minor safety issue.

Yeah , that's a hassle but we do..

I'm Scottish though and I'd rather refill them and save on the cost of a canister if I could ..

Buy a small 5LB bottle. They are refillable.

Ill sell you my converter line, or you could buy one from Canadian tire for about$20. They fit onto standard pro pane (and propane accessories... ;) for those little camping bottles. My back yard gas fireplace ran on the small bottles, bought the hose adapter and ran bbq tank (can't remember the poundage, see signature) but it worked just dandy.

5 lb bottles are great and refillable. Go see the guys the Husky at Duncan and Fairview. They have them there, and also the best price for refilling. The guys at Accent can sell you a quality hose as well.

My son in law says he can fill them but can only get them a little over half. I am no scientist but if propane goes in air must vent somehow or you may have an issue. A hose from a 20lb tank to a green bottle wont have the venting gizmo. Make sense??

That's why you can only fill the half full..
