Notarized copy of legal document
Hi. I need a document notarized.
So I called a few places and they want to have 40+$.
Just for copying and put a stamp on? I think that's a rip off.
Does anybody know if there is any place for less?
Thanks for the replies.

I'm not certain, but check at the Court House. You might get is for less. Post if you find anything...

Billing $40 to notarize a document is not "ripping off" anyone. Do you think people are answering phones and staffing offices out of the goodness of their heart? Business licence, certification and advertising amongst other expenses all cost money. People are entitled to make a living and earn a fair wage you know. What should they bill to appease people who expect services for next to nothing...$10 ? Just pay the fee, get your business done and support a working business. Win win for everyone .

I agree. People in Kelowna are so damn cheap.

Become a notary and do it for "free".
A lawyer can do it also.

You should check how much a Lawyer will charge, then that $40+ will look damn good.
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests.

Re: Notarized copy of legal document
$40 does seem like a lot for what seems to be a few minutes' work, but keep in mind you are engaging the services of a professional. The overhead of running even a small office can be substantial, and making your money ten bucks at a time is a good way to go broke in that scenario.
When someone says they pay taxes, you know they're about to be an ******e.

What about the price you pay for a Realtor now, it's ridiculous.

I went though this years ago when there was a place beside Scotia Bank and the Liquor store, I didnt know much as I was young. They wouldn't even take my business because I stated I didnt know why I needed it done. Weird little thing this notarizing is.
Sure do love Rutland!!

Re: Notarized copy of legal document
A few years ago I needed something sketchy notarized. I looked in the phone book and called the smallest listing, it looked like it could have said Saul Goodman. I was happy to pay 45$ .
I watched a lawyer sign a paper, and copy it 3 times once. Charged me 375$.
It's a fair price freeze88.

Re: Notarized copy of legal document
If it needs to be notarized it is an important 'document'.
If you can get it for 40 bucks you are lucky.
But I would also question why it has to be notarized.

Did we lose you or did you just not like the answers?
As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?
