Notarized copy of legal document

Hi. I need a document notarized.
So I called a few places and they want to have 40+$.
Just for copying and put a stamp on? I think that's a rip off.

Does anybody know if there is any place for less?

Considering a lawyer can charge $300/hour (or more), I would say $40 for the 15 minutes it takes to notarize your document is a good deal.

What do you think would be a reasonable charge???!?
