call Coral and inquire about a "tankless" heater. If you have a 40 gallon tank, this might be a better replacement for you.

Expensive and you never get your money out of it.

I did mine through Home depot because they had a sale on a High efficiency and the guy they sent out did an awesome job.
My Wife asked me if I knew what her favorite flower was?

Why?

40 gallons' are too big for a house with up to 5 people, cost is higher than a 33 gal., and with the new high efficiency tanks these days there is lots of return on the smaller ones.

It's important to remember that when shopping for a high efficiency water heater, your annual savings really depends on family size, heater location, and the size and placement of water pipes. According to appraisal expert, Leslie Sellers, president of the Appraisal Institute, "undersizing or oversizing your water heater needs can be a mistake that could cost you in the end."

Mistakes can happen when a homeowner does not purchase the correct water heater for their particular needs. With many different variations of water heaters out there, such as storage, demand, heat pump and solar, finding the one that works best for your home requires you to do your homework and talk to a professional. Just choosing what looks and sounds good could actually end up backfiring on your plans to save money in the long run.

I guess I should have asked,
"Gas or electric?"
"How many people?"
"US or Canadian gallons?"

you are so very wrong about that Alan..( your article is also 5 yrs old) my spouse does hot water tanks all the time...

Whyme, he said Home Depot does have good prices for a 40 gallon tank, very comparable to what you would spend at a wholesaler...

we put in a new tank last yr..I noticed an immediate difference in savings..

Well, there you have it directly from an expert source. No need to ask anyone else.
Don't forget to check with Fortis for your rebate @ https://www.fortisbc.com/Rebates/Rebate ... fault.aspx
There is a sizing chart in there too.
