Highlands Retirement Home

I'm wondering if anyone has lived at the Highlands Retirement center in Glenmore area
in Kelowna.OR do you know anyone that has lived there.Wondering if you liked it; if they are charging
too much money? Deciding what's the best place is for what they charge.Seems like alot of the retirement
places charge quite abit.

Always be aware of ALL their rules and regulations governing the residents stay in their facility.

AND be aware that the Highlands is an independent living facility. The key here is "independent". IN other words, the health and mental capacity of the person in question you are going to move in there has to be in keeping with an independent nature and not reliant upon the Highlands staff.

Be aware that if you are moving someone in whom needs assistance with personal care, meds of any type, you will have to contract out SEPARATELY for those needs to be met. PM me if you need help with that one.

There are many people at the Highlands who have separate services delivered in-home up to four times a day.

Having said that, go over the buildings and grounds carefully. Be aware that the dining room, being separate from all rooms and hallways is ONLY accessible by going outdoors in all weather. Is that acceptable to you?

There are many pluses to the Highlands, depending on what unit you rent out. Some have back views of the fields where deer, coyotes and birds are spotted. Some have no views to speak of. Some are larger than they look from the outside. And some are very well finished.

ASK for the list of "Service Charges" if the staff have to assist with anything. There is a list. Trust me. And that is not a bad thing.

There are many independent people livinig there and doing quite well. The gardens are fanstastic. What they haven't gravelled in so far that is.

A resident left a cigarette in a planter with wood chips.

No negligence on the part of the Highlands. Everyone was devastated.
