I almost agree with you there because if there's too many options it'll make it harder for the ones already in place to make a living.

The main reason I agree with the Boston Pizza suggestion, is because, the way things are now, the town pretty much has the sidewalks rolled up by 9pm.

I've been turned away from Aspen Grove, for example, at a few minutes before 8pm, because the kitchen was shut down I was told.

I think there's a void BP could fill, by having a local establishment that offers food into the wee hours, with a decent atmosphere.

The way things are, one can't help but feel that most folk are expected to hit the sack by 9pm, and I'm sure I'm not the only night owl in Lake Country.

With the cost of fuel what it is today, I just think people are more willing to embrace something local, as opposed to traveling all the way into Kelowna for a latter evening outing.

the new one the opened up here isn't bad. You can get better quality at some places in town, but it's certainly acceptable for what it is.
So I love the Okanagan but it's a place best enjoyed from atop a very large pile of $100 bills. - Spocky

I drive from Kelowna to Vernon lots, so I'll vote for a DQ to stop at in Winfield. Rather than grab a McFlurry on a hot day, I'd rather have a Bizzard. :D
There's no cause for alarm in the NDP ranks. I have it on good authority that if the polls get too close, Adrian Dix will back date them to April '13.

Would love to see a Red Lobster or Olive Garden.....if you build it, they will come.

The rumour of Boston Pizza coming to Winfield surely must have a lot of Winfield eateries worried. And for good reason. Just got home from driving into Kelowna and having supper at BP. Wonderful ! We were all discussing what a BP would do for Winfield. It would destroy some places - or certainly make them sit up and take notice and maybe force them to do something to improve their own place.
They have the BEST breaded wings and pizza - no comparison to what we have served locally in Winfield. For family dining (think campsites, locals visiting with kids) BP is a no-brainer. Something to please everyone on their menu.

Places like Chantana's, L'Isola Bella will continue to thrive I think - they have a niche that BP can't fill. But watch out other guys - if it's true I think you're going to be in trouble. Just my opinion.

Rumors are just that, rumors. I'm sure enough have come and gone over the years that most eateries aren't too worried until the ribbon is cut.

BP's would make a nice addition as a family restaurant for sitting, as Winfield is lacking something like that. that being said, I still wonder if Winfield has a large enough population to support a BP's on a regular basis. I don't think other pizza joints have much to worry about. Yes BP's pizza's are good, but they also come at a price. If I want a Meateor, i'll get a BP's meateor. Otherwise I'll still be at Papito's for their specials.

I'd rather see the Olive Garden than a Red Lobster IMHO, and not in Winfield. People would have to be pretty die-hard to be willing to drive out here and wait for an hour to get seated.

I totally agree, even Kelowna doesn't have either of these. You could be enticing clientele from both Kelowna and Vernon to come here to eat.

Have you ever seen the amount of traffic an Olive Garden can produce? I can't think of anywhere in Winfield that can handle that volume. Plus I can't see a franchise of that type coming to a small place like here. It would make it in Kelowna or Westbank, but we're no Westbank.

I actually think Lake Country could use a good little seafood restaurant. I've eaten at Joey's seafood and it's good. Nothing fancy, but good. I doubt you'd see a Red Lobster in Lake Country. It would more likely come to Kelowna, but probably not anytime soon. However, Joey's at one time had 2 locations in Kelowna. One is now C-Lovers Fish and Chips and the other was in the Orchard Park food court, but has also closed. Winfield might be a good place to open a Joey's seafood restaurant, even though there is one in Vernon.
