You'd be wrong ... in 2012-13 Quebec will receive $17.4 billion, BC will receive $5.7 billion, Alberta will receive $3.7 billion

In 2012-13, provinces and territories will receive $60.9 billion through major transfers (Canada Health Transfer, Canada Social Transfer, Equalization and Territorial Formula Financing) and direct targeted support – an increase of $2.4 billion from the previous year.

Quebec receive more tax transfer (equalization) than the other provinces true.. But You have to look at what they give VS what they get.

Quebec had total revenues of 62,000,000,000$ in 2010-2011 and the Feds provided for 25% of their budget.
Ontario? Feds contributed 23% of their budget.
Manitoba and Nova Scotia? Feds contribute 36% of their budget
New Brunswick? 37%
IPE? 43%
Yukon is financed at 66% by the Feds
TNO 77%
Nunavut ? 93%

And BC is financed at 20% by the feds.

Alberta and Saskatchewan? 15%

Average for each province in Canada? 23%

Quebec gets more money because it's calculated per capita and it's a complicated tax transfer.. because unlike every province, Quebec does thing differently and they manage their own things. It's why we have to file two income tax reports each year.

French owes the ones from QC, part of ontario and manitoba. YOU deal with the ones from BC and Saskatchewan (which are 60% of the population for the last one). Deal?

Looks to me like those "digits" need a bit of work LOL, since they appear to me a bit of apples to oranges comparison if one were to consider the relative size of each provinces budget..... as well as their debt. As to population, would it not make more sense to compare federal transfers on a per capita basis?
