Anybody explore up Garnet Valley? Anything interesting up there like there is on Canyon View Road in Summerland?

There's small dam with a lake once you get out of the populated area, nice place to wander. I've heard that folks catch crayfish in the creek up there. Scampi for dinner?

Sounds good to me, we'll combine that with a trip up Giant's Head and a boo into the research center this April. Spring flowers anyone?

Looks like a 4x4 only road to get that far on our local map. We aren't into fishing at all, but is the scenery nice?

No 4x4 needed to get to the lake.Heck you could drive a station wagon to the lake. The drive out the valley is downright beautiful in the summer.

Oh excellent, good to know. Looking forward to making a good day of it now. Too many places, so little time. Sigh. And today is so darned cold we won't go anywhere.

Re: Day trip from Kelowna
Argh, this long winter has kept lots of places closed I wanted to visit. The other day I took my last trip in my highway car before I pull it apart for rebuild. I did the whole loop through Slocan valley (Castlegar->hwy 6 north to New Denver->east to Kaslo->south to Nelson) and was disappointed to see the Kokanee Glacier park still closed and the Fish Lake rest area pretty much invisible underneath mountains of snow. I also stopped at Nancy Greene park but three steps in I discovered that thigh-high snow levels don't quite work for me. I'll have to run it again in a few months.
I am more important than you.

Hi Netfreak, still frozen lakes and barely there growth is exactly what happened to us last weekend. We were travelling but was disappointed by the winter ice still in ponds, lakes and such. Margaret Falls is beautiful, but the park is still closed.
We'll probably just hike Hardly Falls today, or something close.

For those who'll never get to see Margaret Falls:

Learn something new all the time eh?

Hi Graphite, it's the easiest hike ever, approx. 800 M? You park in the parking lot, go down a well trodden path a bit along the road then take a sharp turn left up the creek on the most spacious path ever. Walk ways all the way. NO up hill or down hill, it's pretty even. Last time we were there someone was using a stroller.
