Re: Canadian Gun Registry
The registry didn't save one single life or stop one single shooting.
But anti-gun leftists support it because they think it's a good first step towards confiscation of firearms from law abiding citizens.
The sooner the far left can disarm the citizens, the sooner the far left can enforce its agenda on those citizens. It would be under the guise of "closing the wage gap" or "equality", but in reality it would mean taking all you've worked for and giving it to those who've never worked for anything. Unarmed, how can you stop them when they come to take what you have?
All leftist governments have used this tactic. Thankfully, we've caught on to that ploy here in Canada - for now, at any rate.

Re: Canadian Gun Registry
Owning a firearm in Canada is still a privilege , not a right. Missuse it and its gone...or at least banned for some time. Kinda like a drivers license. (oh oh cars kill people daily...need we go back to horses?)
You need to pass a safety course and background check to own a firearm.
I own both restricted and non-restricted. I also have a concealed carry permit for Washington State and ATF certification to transport firearms into US/ Canada...I treat all my firearms with upmost safety, respect, and will teach all my kids to shoot safely, when they are a little bit older.
Some of my guns look scarry, so what? Does that automatically mean we need to have them restricted?
The firearms center has screwed up countless times with my registrations of firearms. I found it to a complete waste of time and MONEY!
Sure it lets police know if there is a firearm present in a home when they respond to a call. Big whup! Canadien Firearms Center continuously got my address wrong not to mention the firearms I had registered. They even lost my registration of one of my handguns in their system.
So what good is the CFC?
Glad the puplic wants it gone!

Buddy was pretty dumb to just disarm his followers.
Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfills the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things.

I'd like to see an inquiry into where all those billions of dollars went that were spent on this completely useless government endeavour. I am guessing there are a lot of bureaucrats and friends of said bureaucrats in Quebec are driving around in BMW's and Porsches that were paid for with Canadian taxpayer money.

We should also start the inquiry into why the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, long time supporters of the registry, accepted $115,000 from CGI/Techno, the software firm that programmed the failed registry, to buy Celine Dion tickets for the Top Cops.

That is a statement that you cannot support with fact.
And do not turn this into a left vs right argument, because it isn't one.

Re: Canadian Gun Registry

Good thing it was in place, so that we knew exactly what guns this guy used when he decided to go on a killing rampage at Dawson College.
Kimveer Gill did in fact have a restricted-class PAL and his weapons were registered with the Canadian gun registry. Therefore, he owned the weapons legally under Canadian law.
