So just 7 roster players to sign & 9 non-rostered.

I am not sure I like the garrison deal. $4.6mil for 6 years because he had one good season? He is getting paid the same amount as bieska so this guy better be putting up the same kind of points .

Do the Canucks have only one scout on thier staff and they live in Florida? With the amount of cap space the Canucks have they should have offered the Suter what he wants. He's the guy they need, a really mean D who gets away with murder and allows the rest of the team to play with more grit.

Hopefully they're not done, Doan is the next piece they need.

They have 5.3 mil remaining in their Cap 5 players on their roster still unsigned & they need to replace the other D-man they lost.
I suspect Doan is not going to happen, plus will not know if he be available until after July 9.

Too late to change my mind about the deal? Looks pretty good after all.

From another forum:

Here are the 16 goals that Garrison tallied last season -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v93pCQugsc8

Garrison was behind only Karlsson and Weber in goals (each with 19 goals) but with a better shooting percentage (9.5%) on 168 shots - in fact Garrison had the best shooting percentage among all NHL D-men with 150 or more shots. By way of comparison the shooting percentage for Karlsson was 7.3% and Weber with 8.3%.

Edler led the Canucks D with 11 goals on 228 shots and a shooting percentage of 4.8%. Kevin Bieksa scored 8 goals on 166 shots and a shooting percentage of 4.8%. Salo had 9 goals on 136 shots for a 6.6% shooting percentage.

Defensively Garrison had only 30 giveaways playing the toughest minutes on the Panthers (23:41/gm). Giveaways on the Canucks - Bieksa (68), Hamhuis (62), Edler (51) and Ballard (29 but in only 47 games). Salo had 35 giveaways in 69 games.

Wow, this topic was buried, last post July - lol. Guess we didn't miss hockey that much.

Anyway, watched the Buffalo game on the weekend and cringed at how well Hodgson is doing. Had heard that Kassion was in far better shape and was doing well in the minors but didn't expect this big of an improvement in one summer. Last night he was the best player in the Canucks line up. Now I have nothing but best wishes for Hodgson, looks like the deal was a good move for both teams.

It's also great to see Raymond back to form, was worried he'd never regain his touch but he's come back flying.

Regarding Luongo, I know he has the last say but New Jersey would be a good trading partner in need of a replacement for Marty. Ideally we could aquire Adam Larrson so we can finally unload Ballard without cocern for depth on D. I'm aloud to dream aren't I?

Great to see Kesler back, and at such a high level first game, amazing.

Real nice tribute to Henrik last night, fans really showed thier appreciation with he longest standing ovation I can recall. It does make you realize how fortunate we are to have the Sedins. They have a way of creating order out of choas with plays that have to be seen in slow motion to appreciate. All while being two of the classiest professional athletes in sport.

Great hit on Smith from Edler in Pheonix. Shame about the suspension, don't know if he intended to but he does appear to look up just in time to lower hos shoulder. But regardless, the press seems to have forgotten just a few plays earlier Sedin being pushed into the net and needing stitches. If the refs won't make calls when teams take liberties with the Sedin's then players have to exact payback. Well worth the suspension.

Unconfirmed at this point:
Alain Vigneault, Rick Bowness & Newell Brown have been fired.

After watching the impact the Sedin's made at the IIHF, Gillis should shoulder some of the blame. He never aquired the right winger the twins have needed. The twins made Loui Erriksson look like a 50 goal scorer, maybe not too late, Loui for Edler. Preferably Booth, Burrows or Ballard would be in the trade but that would be even more of a stretch.
