About the only feesable idea sadly was the go cart track. A waterpark would cost way more than a costco, and costco is pretty fussy. might as well start from scratch.

Ok, then. How about Mustang Ranch North? Now that's the way to bring commerce to West Kelowna!

We won't get a Costco or Ikea, but a JYSK might work on this side.

Put a casino in where Zellers is and where Extra Foods was.

There is no back access at all and no space to put one in. Unless they figure that they are going to run a long access hallway all along the back inner section of the building, they're going to have to put the loading dock in the front door. Yeah, that's gonna happen! DUH! Doesn't anyone actually think before they come up with these grandiose plans and no way to implement them?
Throw in a common hallway in the middle utilizing the main doors and have small shops on either sides, then you can have any size almost.

I heard the band is thinking about putting a casino in there...

Casino infrastructure costs more than you think. And the revenue is not there.

Re: Westbank Zellers up for lease
I've never really been in the West Kelowna Zellers, but I always thought that if you got it zoned for two floors you could do a mini-mall idea with indoor ma & pa retail shops. Something small, no single shop being overly large. With two floors you could find enough low-rent tenants to fill it up, and give local small businesses a great place to set up shop. Heck, make the top floor a business park (individual offices for businesses, single receptionist for them all) and leave the bottom floor for retail clients.
The same could be done for the old Extra foods, too.

Would never work. You cant divide that building in anyway . It hasnt the proper structure or infrastructure .

Zellers or the old Extra Foods building would make a great location for a Princess Auto on this side of the lake.

Both buildings would be perfect for a Public Market like Granville Island Market. Have enough for parking and turn the rest into a beautiful park. We do need something like that somewhere here preferably not on band land though.

Even in the last few days of the blowout sale at the Zellers on Cooper, the prices were barely competitive with regular price at Walmart. It's no wonder that they've gone out of business. Between poor pricing and dirty, disgusting stores, it's a miracle they lasted as long as they have.
Hear hear!!! I was in Salmon Arm 3 days before the Zellers clossing day and there was no deals, plenty of items were just 15% off and everything that was 40% or better was junk.
I'm just waiting for Zellers to close, anything would be better.
