Guess a lot of Canadians, under present day world economic circumstances, have no clue how well of we are. I have spoken to a number of foreigners while in Europe, and all are looking at us, Canadians, how we are and have been weathering the economic world storm. So we may not like our banking system, but its a bright light in the world of business. We may not like the politics in our country but what has been done, and what the government is doing, certainly works for us Canadians.

That is the ndp way of looking at things, do not look at what is good but always how it would benefit the ndp . :skippingsheep: :skippingsheep: :skippingsheep: :skippingsheep:

Thats the problem with this discussion forum. The moment you state that something is good or bad, you are right away pushed into a left or right political corner. Pretty shortsighted people. You people have no idea how good things are in Canada taking into consideration the economics of the day in most of the rest of the world. Seems like some of you have never been out of this valley. Dont destroy what you have, enjoy what you have.

As Flaherty continues to blame the rest of the world this morning for Canada's problems. No wonder so many folks blame everyone but themselves for their problems. They learn form the best...The Harper Government.

So who is he supposed to blame? While Canada got their fiscal house in order in the 1990's, the rest of the world continued on a drunken orge of debt and over-spending, and now they have to pay for their sins. Thank goodness we had Paul Martin in charge back in those days, and the Conservatives now. The US is on the way to becoming the reincarnation of Zimbabwe and Germany is holding the entire EU over the toilet right now trying to keep it from being completely flushed. The LAST thing we need right now, either provincially or federally, is a swing to the far left, and all of the regulation, taxation and massive spending increases that inevitably happen when you elect these mentally challenged leftist types. We definitely do not need a carbon tax federally, despite the Mulcair insistence on keeping this issue around, and unfortunately, no matter who is elected provincially, we seem to be stuck with that assinine tax.

Completely with you on that.

Here we are the envy of much of the rest of the civilized world, yet we still have countless whiners, jealous of everyone else who has more than them.

Sometimes it's good to just look up, note that you have a decent roof over your head, and just think of how many people in other parts of the world don't.

So who is he supposed to blame? Pretty obvious. Conservatives always spend more then they bring in.

How is what other people in other countries have or don't have even relative to living conditions in Canada or even in the valley?

Everyone judges their own unique situation for themselves.

We are no more responsible for starving kids, abused women or hungry families in any third world country than we are in any way responsible for what happens anywhere outside our borders. There are too many other elements and influences at play in those countries that impact what happens there to those people. As a nation we give mega amounts of aid and money to "help" others and as individuals many of us take from our own pockets, too. But that makes zip difference to what each of us deems important in our own lives and the lives of our families. It's like your mother telling you to eat your veggies because there's starving kids in Africa who would be happy to have the food that's on our plates. It just isn't relative.

More to the point - and far more relative - is why does our government give our tax dollars to other people in other countries before they will help our own people in our own country? Why did our government give millions of dollars in "aid" to an American charity for the people of Haiti to get clean drinking water, food and shelter that they never received? We have Canadian people who have no adequate shelter, no nutritious food and no clean drinking water here in their own country.

Our biggest asset is our natural resources, and they are only going to be in more & more demand as time goes on. (overall trend) So that's a good thing for our economy. Our banking system is also quite strong, due to some smart regulating (albeit not perfect/complete) which helped us avoid the worst of the previous collapse. We're not perfect, but doing pretty darned good, compared to others. But we should always strive to be better; never compare yourself to anything lesser & thus pat yourself on the back & relax. I thought that stuff was obvious.

(I agree with gram there, too)
Your bias suits you.
