Can't exactly but many of the ideas center around harnessing the energy that powers the world /Universe. Some of these are "freer" than others as some require "power" to access them(ie geothermal).....but what if that power was generated through wind/solar/tide/etc.Others use magnetics which are said to use less energy than they produce(shifting polarities?).Then there is what Tesla was working on which is harnessing the "static electricity" that is all around us. Personally, I don't know if the answer relies on any one theory/application. What I do know is that there are far better/cleaner/cheaper/better/right ways to power our world than is being used now(and the answer to why is easy to see).

What would happen if; humans harvested all magnetic materials on Earth and moved them to locations around the globe to supply mankind's need for "free energy"?
Wouldn't that human act cause a magnetic, polar shift?

Just a simple questions like, "Which direction would all the migratory birds fly when winter set in over the Southern hemisphere?" or "In which direction would the Equator now be located?" You're talking about something completely different to what "free energy" believers would have us think is real. You're talking about green energy, and I fully believe and support that. This technology gets it's power from an existing energy source (solar, hydro, geothermal) and converts it into a different energy we can use, but in the process, the energy required to produce is more than the energy coming out.

Free energy believers would have you believe they were able to create more energy than was used to make it. Not possible.

Free energy in the other sense is exactly along the lines of a perpetual motion machine -- the belief that you can basically create energy out of nothingness. The fatal flaw with this type of free energy is that it goes against the laws of physics.
