Local Saw mill or lumber

Post by kawasaki_kx100 »

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone had, or knew of someone with a sawmill that has wood and could cut it for pretty cheap. I'm looking for a cheaper source of local lumber for guitar building, because the stuff at Home Depot and lowes is either expensive or quite bad wood. Or if you have any lumber such as exotic wood im totally game for that too! Oh.. and anyone else here build guitars? I've been looking for local luthiers just to check out their set-ups and what not! Thanks!

One of the best in the business is Tim Diebert from Tim Tone. http://www.timtone.com/ He is in Kelowna now but is not currently making guitars. He is now doing stringed instrument repairs, alterations and modifications.

According to his website, he is also now teaching custom woodworking at Okanagan College.

Now, THAT makes me drool!

As well, he is also teaching Night School Woodworking ... http://timtone.com/woodworking

His contact info is on his websites. Tim's a great guy!

thanks for the reply, I'll check him out. I'm actually not out of high school yet, so the college classes might be a little far off yet. lol

Then you would do well to contact Tim. There is none finer or more knowledgeable. If you need help with anything, he's great for that. Stop in and ask him about that night school course - that might be perfect for you! He's VERY approachable.

I second that. Tim is a great guy to talk to.
