Accident at 97 and Elk

Post by Lore »

Between a semi and two vehicles.
Use other route as traffic is at a standstill.
Hope no one is seriously hurt.

the update says this has been cleared with no major injuries.

I drove from Vernon to Penticton this morning. Snowing hard the entire way, and people are out there still driving like total :nukeem: (insert bad word here!!!) Yep, it took me about an extra 30 minutes to get home. (actually, maybe a bit more.) But I arrived, in one piece, with my car intact.

Hey people who still think it's a good idea to do over 80 in these conditions (yes, all you drivers who think they are awesome in "any condition of road.") If you want to kill yourself, please don't do it in a way that will endanger me physically, or emotionally in that of making me watch you wreck.

Rant over. thanks.

I was in town today and Main street was a skating rink!
Don't think I have ever seen it like that...right lane was ok, but wow.
People were sliding everywhere at a snails pace , as well.

I didn't slide once. Was off the main highway in Kelowna, West Kel and Summerland. Perhaps some defensive driving skills are in order for some. I also maintain my vehicle properly and own good winter tires.

I've got studs on my 4x4 and plenty of weight, and it was still slick as a skating rink.

In the end, it all depends on how you drive.

Some people cannot figure out that if you are doing a certain speed in the snow, psychics take over. You really can never do the speed limit safely in conditions like this, especially if you have to slow down, or take a corner.

Wow, they also mentally communicate with me every time I hit that certain speed in snow... and I thought I was the only one! :127:
They say you can't believe everything they say.

Drove home from Reeds Corner to Westbank today, and me and my friend both agreed "thankful we're not in the lower mainland"... there would have been a dozen accidents there... not one fender bender in those horrible conditions...

Great job to everyone driving Hwy97 in a calm & sane manner between 2-3pm. We drove slowly but we all made it with no incidents!

It's nice most have the common sense to stay off the road all together. Mostly the people with a sun hat and a box of Kleenex in the back window.

Grew up in Edmonton driving the their winters, been driving for well over30 years...never had one accident...have a great car and brand new winter tires. Does not change the fact it was pure ice on the roads.
