we dont need an Ikea. its all junk. that being said I spent 400 bucks on little "junk" the one time I was in one. Im willing to bet most westbankers are stocked right up with chinese crap. junk drawers, junk rooms ,junk sheds overflowing. garbage bins overstuffed with hidden plastic and cardboard packaging. We are the cottage cheese thighs of the Okanagan. located right below the #&& ho!e of it.

Like Extra Foods, Zellers will be dark for a long long long time. Loblaws (Superstore and Extra Foods owner) has a restriction on the titles restricting any grocery use. It's scorched earth...Loblaws are happy to let the Extra Foods sit empty forever - they own it.

They don't own the land and I would think there is something in the lease regarding empty premises. I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being a warehouse of sorts.

With the new Loblaws REIT, I'm sure that they don't want the WK Extra Foods on their books as a ghost store.

They have to keep it on their books to maintain the restriction.

Becoming a warehouse doesn't mean open to the public.

Loblaws is highly leveraging their properties through their new REIT. Empty shell stores are a black eye in a REIT. It won't be long until something is done with that store, even if it's razed to the ground. Weston is not an amateur or an idiot. A parking lot looks better on a REIT sheet than an empty building.

Has anyone checked to see if anyone has applied for a casino and/or hotel application? Perfect location.

Rats and mice will probably move in to zellers just like superstore and several other buildings that have shut down

Guess not.

I have received word that the empty Extra Foods store in West Kelowna is going to be designed into a major outlet for the City Furniture chain in B.C. They have carved a niche for themselves across the province and in this case there isn’t a lot of competition in their back yard.

It certainly won't be a city furniture they just packed up in Westbank and called it quits here after lack of sales there is no way they would reopen they lost over here. Which reminds me of another sizeable building that will never be leased!

I would imagine different ownership.

It was announced earlier that the ReStore was going to opening in the old City Furniture building.

Oh, never heard about it or of it but all the best anyway if it does go ahead! One less vacant spot.

Well to be honest, there was an anouncement a month or so ago I believe but like everything around here, I'll believe it when I see it.
