Fipke is/was a Kelowna resident. I believe his wife got the largest divorce settlement in Canadian history at some 175 million in cash and stocks. She was the woman that was causing fuss on her abbott street property wanting to build bigger and closer to neigbouring lots than allowed. Not sure how that all worked out. Use to see him around town 15 years ago in his convertable Dodge Viper with his terrible comb over haird-do with girls WAY to good for him. Money is wasted on the rich.

Sounds like he was spreading the wealth like a good boy. Nothing worse than a rich person who won't spend any.

His car and hair-do hardly says anything about his spending. He made a truck load of money fast.

Fipke's wealth has NOTHING to do with luck. It has everything to do with tenacity, perseverance, knowledge, derring-do and going without.

Yep, you don't head way up north and just dig a hole and get lucky.

He obviously did his homework and went for it.

I know from the family that chuck and others worked diligently and persistently tracking down the big find for decades before it was hit big, They would dry core samples in the same oven in the kitchen the used for dinner, perseverance paid off big.
The wealth reaches beyond chuck, I knew a gentleman that invested in him at 25 cents a share, later sold at over 200$, I think.
Many of the wealthy people I know deserve every penny.

Mr. Fipke has invested a huge amount on our University, the 31.5 million Fipke Centre for Research, who cares what he drives or his hair-do. He did support our community.
