That vessel has never, and never will, operate as anything but a business.

Trying to grasp at imaginary straws makes you position all that more laughable

Laughable to you maybe, but then that is to be expected from a naysayer.

The word is realist not naysayer.

The vessel has since it's building always been a commercial venture.
The new owner approached the City as the vessel to be operated a commercial venture.
Please tell us all just how you see it that it is not?

Look I am fairly new here been here around 18 months or so now. But I for sure think they should be cruising that thing in the lake and that it is good for tourism and the cities image. So hopefully this thing works out.

Another thing would like to see Kelowna get is an Imax theatre. The Xtreme is not bad but still not a real Imax. That could be on this side of the lake.

I'll not argue the point with you anymore. I'm 100% in favour of his venture. Good Luck Andy, you have my support.

If you really support him then give him the one thing he needs, your money.

Thanks Kibbs

My pleasure. I really liked the wine idea .I wonder where they could find wine to label? Did you see the tourist awards that thing won?
Peace be with you.

Opportunity missed by the City. Hopefully the Fintry Queen can be moored in the Kelowna area. Perhaps somewhere in the Mission near the Eldorado.

http://www.castanet.net/news/Kelowna/94038/New-marina-ready-for-weekend

Kelowna's new commercial marina, the first portion of the new downtown marina and pier is expected to be ready to accommodate commercial boats this weekend.

It was expected the marina would be ready two weeks ago, however, a few delays pushed that date back.

"The commercial pier will be open to the public and fully functional this weekend, with commercial boat owners able to sell their tickets from the new building and arrive and depart from the new pier," stated Westcorp's Director of Development, Gail Temple in an email to Castanet News late Friday.

Makes me wonder why the Fintry Queen has been excluded from this pier.

Maybe because before it went into receivership the owners stiffed the City for something like $75k in rent/moorage fees and the new owner doesn't have a pot to pee in?

Why not dry dock it and turn it into a themed restaurant on shore??

It might be cheaper and easier to build a boat than try to drag the Fintry Queen out of the lake!!

That would require a piece of lakeshore and so far no one wants that thing on their beach

This is good news and I wish the people of Penticton the best of luck with the Fintry.
Those who like the old scow can still ride on it while it cruises Okanagan Lake and Kelowna rids itself of an eysore.
Win win situation.

According to Global, Kelowna has said it will even welcome it back if it fails in Penticton.

The report I heard said Kelowna would only allow it to come back here to be broken for scrap if it fails in Penticton.
