Trudeau: Millionnaire pocketing thousands in speaking fees?
As an MP, Trudeau pocketed thousands in speaking fees; on top of his already generous annual $154,000 salary.

Sadly, only in French can we learn that he herited $1.2M from his father, and that he currently earns $154,000 a year + travel expenses as an MP.
They are just a bunch of crooks out there or what? Why do we pay him an MP salary if his job is clearly to charge people to give speeches?

OTTAWA - Justin Trudeau has charged school boards and other publicly funded organizations tens of thousands of dollars for speeches he's given since becoming an MP, a practice that, while legal, has brought him censure from some of his Commons colleagues and Liberal leadership rivals.

He is doing a service outside of his regular duties. Why wouldn't he be compensated for that?

How can we know for sure he's doing that outside of "regular business hours"?
How many hours a week is an MP supposed to work for a $150k wage?
+travel expenses? euhum

Seems like you Have a Goal to discredit him before you know for sure. His family is rich ,what was he supposed to inherit? The Trudeau name has proudly defended Canada and opposed Quebec separation. His brother Michel lies in the bottom of lake Kokanee. He is trying to rebuild a beaten down party,I think your more worried about counting his beans than he is.I hope Justin can find a way to unite Canadians .
Peace be with you.

Apparently some of the speaking engagements were during days when parliament was sitting - at least according to a guest on the Bill Good show today. I am surprised Justin only inherited 1.2 million - with three living children I would have thought Pierre would have had more to leave his kids than 3.6 million after taxes - assuming they shared equally. No wonder JT needs to double dip to keep the silver spoon in his mouth.

Parliament doesn't sit 24/7 so why shouldn't he be paid for speaking engagements during non-working hours? Nobody is forcing any company, foundation, etc. to pay ... they are given a quote and it's up to them whether to go ahead or not.
How much money did Trudeau leave his children (remember Michel died 2 years before PET) ... that's really none of our business, is it? Who knows how much was bequeathed to charity, alma maters, etc.

I checked he also has a half sister. What other petty things will they attack him with .His age ,lisp .wealth .family ,province of birth ,former employment .Why don't you discuss his lack of policy and put the lame cannon away.It sounds like an elementary school yard.
Peace be with you.

Yes, parliament has many days it does not sit. So JT should not be missing sitting days - which he apparently did - in order to be paid to speak somewhere else.
Pierre Trudeau had 4 children, not three.

So he's the only Member of Parliament who missed a day? Doubt it but that would defeat the purpose of dragging him through the mud, wouldn't it?
Where did I say 3 children? I said "his children".

If he was anywhere outside of Ottawa being paid for speaking on a day Parliment was sitting, not only is it morally reprehensible, it is theft of taxpayers dollars. Illness, famiy matters or duties related to gov't business...fine. To enable a second income.....no way!!! Already a pig at the trough.
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

I love the part where the anchor calls Trudeau a LIAR and gives the slap in the face:

Gee kibbs, I would think you would know that the mother of Justin's half sister, Deborah Coyne, is also running for the liberal leadership.

I really like Justin's wife Sofie. I dont think anything will stop him from winning the leadership. Its their last chance and they have already shot both feet with the last two picks. If I had loonie for every time an MP Missed a day I would have a senators pension.
Peace be with you.

This is not to say that Trudeau has not broken any of these codes since this came out in 2010 but it certainly puts what he was doing back then in context:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/126219096/Eth ... ing-events
Seems that Trudeau, in 2010, was cleared of violating any of the ethics codes that would deal with this type of activity.
Presumably Trudeau would continue to operate under these same terms going forward so, unless someone has some real evidence to the contrary, there isn't anything of substance here (which is not a surprise since this is nothing more than an attempted smear).
