Tell the person struggling to keep their old Ford Fiesta on the road that those who can afford a taxpayer subsidized Tesla aren't privileged. No doubt they'll feel foolish for not having a couple.

Just a question. Which government is supposedly subsidizing this car? Canada, USA, Germany, Italy?

"The government"

The LA Times is owned by Oaktree Capital Management, which invests in crude petroleum and natural gas, coal and consumable fuels.

The clearly biased article looks at multiple different companies, including space X to try to gain an impressive enough sounding number. The article then goes on to neglect to mention government subsidies in other industries, such as the nearly 1 trillion that goes to the fossil fuel industry each year.

To answer my own question then, it's the government of the USA that is putting in the $$$$. Is that correct?

LOL - tell yourself whatever you have to to choke down the massive government subsidies that Musk receives. I'd like to see one of these companies actually support itself instead of depending on Obama and the Democrats to keep pumping dough into them to keep them going, but we all know that's not going to happen.

Being a US company, Tesla is mostly subsidized by the US Federal and State governments, but we all end up subsidizing electric cars.

Here in BC, we do it mainly through the CEV program which offers thousands of dollars to subsidize the purchase of battery or fuel cell powered vehicles. Then, more public money is used to install charging stations.

Once the switch is made away from buying gasoline, electric car owners can avoid the several hundred dollars per year in gas taxes that the average family pays, money used for roads, bridges and mass transit.

Sweet.

The CEV program does not offer rebates to ALL battery powered vehicles, just some (effective March 2016).

"Public money" is not funding Tesla Charging Stations.

White Tesla involved in a 4 car accident in Kelowna. This rate there won't be any Teslas on the road.

Does anyone know what actually happened in the Kelowna accident. Was the Tesla the cause or was it collateral damage. Are people putting too much confidence in their cars.
