Here's a tip that will save you money. Do not shoot at the same target twice until you remove the first bolt you fired from said target. The Excaliburs are so accurate that you will find yourself splitting the first bolt with the second one in some instances. Best to use a target with multiple bullseyes, and shoot only once at each bullseye until you remove your fired bolts. Do you have field tips - broadheads are almost impossible to remove from targets. The Excalibur bolt removal tool is really handy to have. Some guys use a bit of paraffin on bolts to make them easier to remove from target backstops.

Start at 20 yards and sight in, then use your pins/crosshairs to move out to 30, 40, etc. They are very accurate and a lot of fun to shoot!

Oh yeah, really practice the cocking and uncocking procedures as shown in Excalibur's training videos. The uncocking is particularly important to know safely. Make sure your foot is fully in the stirrup. Wear long pants, good footwear (no flip flops!) and eye protection.

And post up your results!

Thanks for the advice!!!!! especially on splitting bolts in targets. Just using field tips for now, once we are confident in our ability with it, and only then, will we start to gear towards hunting and broadheads. will post range pics once we get out there.

Somewhat like your XCR.....cheaper maybe?

We (son and I) got his gun 30-6 sighted in no problem - 2" at 100 yards.
However my gun I cannot for the life of me get sighted in.
Cleaned, tightened scope, etc.

I'm going to point at the Vortex first. It might not hold zero, especially with the 7 mag and the lightweight Tikka.

Also, have you tried different kinds of ammo? Some guns like one brand way better than others because of barrel harmonics and bullet jump. I assume you're shooting factory ammo and not reloading?
