Do you agree or disagree on this win.
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests.

He rarely does what people expect him to do. I wonder if he'll accept it.

Whoa, the bar for Nobel prize is pretty low these days.

Next year - Katie Perry?

Comparing Bob Dylan to Katie Perry is kinda funny. Bob Dylan has been one of the most influential song writers of all timed despite the fact that he never had the world's greatest vocals or the was the most talented guitar player. Some songs might not be that greatest, but that's to be expected when you've written over 500 songs. Many are masters of poetry. He did take his name from the poet Dylan Thomas, after all.

My mom has been a Bob Dylan fan since like 1960. I phoned her with the news because she doesn't have TV, Internet or radio, but someone else had already phoned her tell her.

The vocals might not be the best, but the way he crafted the words to tell a story is the reason he was awarded the prize. Three different songs of totally different directions...

Pretty serious on the first statement.

Not so serious on the second one.

It should be given to someone i don't even recognize the name.
Dylan is great but not for this.

Maybe they should just award it to someone we've never heard of every time. None of us will be interested enough to investigate and see if they deserve it.

Dylan is the greatest songwriter of his generation. If his accomplishments aren't enough to earn this award, then no one else deserves it either.

his lyrics are poems set to music. like songs really should be. i don't think he ever once says "Oh Baby, Ooo Ooo Ooo" in any of them either. LOL

(he's also artistic in other ways too... http://www.halcyongallery.com/exhibitio ... ood-swings )

He won the Nobel Prize for literature. As ferri posted, his lyrics are poems set to music. While not the greatest musician or vocalist, his lyrics were meaningful and promoted emotion and thought - like all great writers. Great choice!
