This is why I start a "kill Christmas" thread every year.

For many, the pressures to overbuy what one can afford is just too much too.

It's up to each generation to pass on to the next the meaning of Christmas and downsize the expense. I put the focus on togetherness, family, reach out and touch someone, let those you care about know you're thinking of them. I love buying presents but they certainly don't have to cost much - even towels can be outrageously expensive so choose wisely.

Did you wake up one Christmas morning and be the most disappointed kid on the block?

Did you get the most popular Christmas toy or not?

Go.

...as long as there was some legos or army guys somewhere in there then the socks and art supplies were just fine too.

I remember getting Battleship under the tree, my brother got it.

I had an Easy-Bake oven. I wonder if that's the real reason I don't bake anything to this day?

Never woke up disappointed and don't remember getting the cool toys (some years the complete opposite but folks tried hard). Still love opening presents even if it's underwear and socks.

The best present I ever had was a huge dollhouse Santa (my parents) built - never mind I had to share with my sisters, it was great.
I haven't failed until I quit.

Christmas clearly is upon us.

I Wish all my real friends here an extra special Merry Christmas, if it weren't for Castanet we would not have met as there is no finer way to meet people with shared interests once we put the keyboards aside. To you all, you know hwo you are:

To those whom I have not met, it's okay, not everyone wants the "next level" and that's how life is, Merry Christmas to you all!

And to all I wish you all a Happy New Year.

So how is Christmas working out for everyone today?

Anyone "take one for the team" yet?
Anyone still wrapping up presents?
Anyone out taking walks and visiting gramma and grampa in independent living homes?

What's going on?
