I just went outside and don't see the little birdy anymore. I am hoping he flew away.

It would be nice to know. I mean, I didn't yell at him when he "fluffed" in my hand. lol

I went shopping at Costco today - and somehow I missed the rush! Easy parking spot, found a cart, no lineups! :200:

ferri wrote:Oh man. I just went outside to check the weather and found a dark eyed junco on the patio. I picked it up and it hopped right up on my finger and snuggled down. LOL I stayed out there until I was almost frozen. I finally got a warm towel and put it on a table in the gazebo and put the little birdy on there. As soon as I thaw out I'll go out and check on it.
I tried a couple of times to put it in a tree and it would hop backwards into my hand. LOL

Your story reminded me of a Vinyl Cafe story called "The Bird". I am a bit of a CBC nerd and a Super Fan of the Vinyl Cafe. If you haven't listened to Stuart Mclean on the Vinyl Cafe then I have to say you truly missing out on a piece of Canadiana. And if you have listened, well then you know how easy it is to become enthralled with Dave, Morley, Sam, Stephanie and their dog Arthur.

Sadly Stuart Mclean is going through treatments for melanoma and the Vinyl Cafe stories and his live performances are on hold. You can download the podcasts though.

Anyways, I am going to share "The Bird" story with you. It took me all morning to figure out how to record it to a file that I could share, so I hope you will listen to it and even more so I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do. It is 17 minutes long, so make sure you have that to set aside, uninterrupted. His stories go well with a warm cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate.

Enjoy! Happy New Year.

I also forgot to mention, I too went a little bird crazy recently. We had some little chickadees hanging out in our Burning Bush, eating the little red berries, I felt they could use a little more variety. So I went to Buckerfield's to buy some seed to fill a homemade feeder I was planning to make out of a 2L pop bottle. Well, $130 later I came home with a shiny new feeder, seed, dried worms and a suet variety pack. Best money I have spent in a while! Mrs. Treeguy and I love watching the little birdies.

That bird looking at your feeder looks like one that I was helping the other day. :D

Thank you to all that have posted on here.

I have had some angst as of late and all entries on this thread have brought some
brightness and levity, and yes......hope, to me.

Thank you all.

Feeling better already !

House finches are cute too. :D Have the quail discovered the feeder yet? They are great at getting rid of dead grass underneath where the bird seed is. [icon_lol2.gif]

We all need some hope going into the new Year. This season can create much angst and mixed feelings and emotions. I share in these feelings with you. I think that is what prompted me to buy the bird feeder, I was needing a bit of joy. I look forward to putting this holiday season behind me and have life return to its normal rhythms.
