Study: Medical Marijuana Makes Workers Healthier, Cuts Down On Sick Time

Weed doesn’t keep you from going to work. Quite the opposite: cannabis may help you show up and not stay at home, faking or being sick. Instead of compelling workers to stay at home or not show up, absenteeism — the act of not showing up for work — decreased in states with medical marijuana laws on the books, according to a recent study.

Earlier research on the connection between cannabis and workplace productivity — or the lack of any connection whatsoever — has found that, generally, marijuana has little to no effect on workers’ desire or ability to show up for their shifts, the Washington Post reported, though chronic and heavy users may have problems.

In states with medical marijuana laws, workers reported staying home sick from work at rates eight percent less than in other states, according to economist Darin Ullman, who crunched data that included absenteeism rates in 24 states with some kind of medical cannabis allowance.

But that was all states with medical cannabis on the books. When he looked at states where the laws are “lax” — that is, where just about anyone can get medical marijuana, including California — sick time decreased even further, by 13 percent.

It’s not clear if the healthier workers are healthier because of cannabis or because of other factors, such as documented decreases in both the use of alcohol and prescription painkillers in places where medical cannabis is available.

“There are any number of factors that could have accounted for a drop in absenteeism in the states Ullman studied — better access to health care, better workplace wellness programs, improved employee health overall, etc,” the Post observed. “The decline in absenteeism could be driven more by any of those factors than by whatever happened to the state’s marijuana laws.”

Or maybe, with medical-grade cannabis available, there’s no need for people to use Spice or K2. Fewer face-eating zombies around is good for everyone, including the working stiffs.

Canadians not told about banned pesticide found in medical pot supply

A controversial pesticide banned in Canada has been discovered in products sold by a federally licensed medical marijuana producer, The Globe and Mail has learned, but neither the company nor Health Canada have informed the public.

Myclobutanil, a chemical that is also prohibited for use on legal cannabis in Colorado, Washington and Oregon because of health concerns, was found in product recently recalled by Mettrum Ltd., a Toronto-based medical marijuana company.

The pesticide is not approved for use on plants that are combusted, such as tobacco or cannabis, and is known to emit hydrogen cyanide when heated. Lawmakers in the three U.S. states moved quickly to ban myclobutanil, in some cases enacting emergency legislation when they discovered growers using it.

But the lack of public disclosure by Health Canada raises new questions about what controls are in place to ensure the product is free of contaminants and chemicals, particularly as the government prepares to introduce legislation to legalize the drug next year.

A Globe investigation this summer called into question the department’s ability to detect potentially dangerous contaminants, and revealed that Health Canada standards at the time did not require testing for myclobutanil and other banned chemicals.

The Mettrum discovery was made recently, when a random screening of the company’s products by Health Canada turned up the unauthorized use of pyrethrin, a pesticide derived from the chrysanthemum plant that is also not approved for medical cannabis.

Mettrum issued a voluntary recall of the affected products on Nov. 1 and said the pyrethrin was used by mistake, because it was not listed on the ingredients of a spray the company was using.

Because there is more money in a populace being sick for Big Pharma. That's why. I was looking at a de-population conspiracy site and yes, I know how people like those sites, tin foil hat jokes and all, but know what? Their theory that the "soft kill" makes sense. Total sense. Sense. It does in fact, show that the "soft Kill" approach to spreading illnesses though soft ways, indefinable almost, is to make people ill and grow profits for some at the same time.

I agree, now if you have AIDS or cancer you know they will find a way to keep you alive for a price but won't find you a cure... very mafia-like. It's also scary when more and more of our food is poisoned with Monsanto and that big pharma Bayer owns Monsanto. They'll make you sick then keep you alive for a price yet are against medicinal weed... hmmmmmm.

Looks like Monsanto and Bayer will be the major player in the MJ business.

Monsanto, Bayer and the Push for Corporate Cannabis
Monsanto now appears to be developing genetically modified (GMO) forms of cannabis, with the intent of cornering the market with patented GMO seeds just as it did with GMO corn and GMO soybeans.

Their genetically modified bullsh*t has already been banned in several European countries. Their angle was creating crops that were hard to grow without modification... pot is a weed that grows very easily, has little or no side-effects, and has multiple proven medicinal benefits.... why genetically alter it when it's perfect the way it is and their genetically altered crap is already being banned? If there was one company responsible for selling fentanyl-laced drugs which killed thousands, would you put them in charge of selling pot or pharmaceutical drugs? Bayer is much, much worse than that. e.g.

http://seattleorganicrestaurants.com/ve ... -drugs.php

The drug Trasylol was on the market for more than 14 years and was banned in 2006 after it contributed to thousands of deaths in patients every single month. Bayer that aggressively marketed Trasylol as safe made billions of dollars on pure profit until a 2006 study showed widespread deaths associated with Trasylol.

After the major study revealed a direct link between Trasylol and death, it took FDA and Bayer almost two years to take the drug off of the market. Later on it was revealed that Bayer had buried evidence of Trasylol severe side effects that did cost one thousands lives a month.

Read the link, that's the tip of the iceberg. They are mass-murderers who get rewards instead of punishment... makes it pretty easy to see who's in charge.

Taking away vaccines would be fast kill. People would start dying by the millions almost immediately. I don't believe big pharma are angels by any means, but the numbers show that vaccines save lives. Some of their other products have been evil as all hell, but vaccines work.
