These people are very lucky but also very stupid.

Not directly on topic, but I'm flabbergasted at the number of people I see using pleasure craft on Okanagan Lake, who don't have life jackets on. Whether it's groups of young adults, or families with young children, the "don't haves" far outweigh the number of people I see wearing them. To me it's like driving a car and not wearing a seat belt.
The thing that gets me, is when you hear of people drowning in boating accidents...it's often not due to a violent collision, or a "knocked unconscious so they couldn't swim" scenario. It's just someone who falls in, slips under the surface and never comes back.
