Just wondering when a call is put into the police, what's the length of time a helicopter is able to respond.

There's a rub... What's routine these days ?

Seems that the worlds is going to Hell in a hand basket depending who you'd believe and the excuse usually contains the words "out of an abundance of caution"...

Like ... "Out of an abundance of caution , the area around Ben Lee Park was evacuated by police today due to a report of a suspicious package left by the change rooms" for some kids forgotten backpack ..

But I'm still of the opinion that the chopper was in the sky for a simple reason and it showed up for something to do ...

For one, there is a distinct difference between using a helicopter in a barricade incident, and evacuating people from an area that may contain an explosive.

Which is absolutely why one might doubt that the police would apply the use of a helicopter during something so allegedly routine.

Or - get this - perhaps the police have been escalating their use and application of force over the last 25 years.

It's not like the RCMP set up sniper positions and were strutting around a residential neighbourhood a few weeks ago with carbine rifles held high in the air - all over the same situation moreless.

I doubt it . Nor did they make a special call to the copper chopper to respond to this one . It just happened to be in the air at the time and they all thought " what the hell , lets have a look " IMO.

RCMP officers were caught out-gunned and "ill-prepared" to confront a gunman who targeted them on a warm summer night in 2014, a judge ruled Friday as he convicted the national police force of failing to provide its members with adequate use-of-force equipment and training.

Judge Leslie Jackson was harshly critical of how long it took the RCMP to equip its officers with carbine rifles ahead of the Moncton attack, which left three Mounties dead and two others injured.

"It is clear to me that the use-of-force equipment available to those members on June 4, 2014, left them ill-prepared to engage an assailant armed with an automatic rifle," said Jackson, a provincial court judge who presided over the Labour Code trial.

Oh my! RCMP officers do need better tools to deal with bigger threats? Who would have thunk it.
