The right way and wrong way to eat a pizza

Postby Thinktank » Jul 16th, 2017, 5:46 pm

So I bought two medium pizzas today
first time in about a year
and immediately I gobbled down six slices of a medium pizza
and then I stopped to think about it.

That is the wrong way to eat a pizza.

The proper way would be to have a HUUUUUGE salad, with two slices of pizza eaten in a civilized manner.
Only two slices at each meal.
Not six or eight slices eaten quickly.

So..... do eat pizza the proper way?

If thats the first pizza you've ordered in a year, I'm sure you'll survive by having a few slices.

The average slice of pizza (based on a 10" pie) averages 200+calories which is not too bad if you don't over indulge. However, the average slice will give you 500-800mg of sodium. The recommended daily intake for a typical adult is 1500mg. Still, as a treat its okay. But too many people include pizza as a staple in their diet.

So, in answer to your question....

Yes, the proper way is to start with a nice salad (preferably with a low calorie low sodium dressing)

Skip the extra cheese, the little dips for your crust they try to talk you into and don't fall for the dessert "special" they try to entice you with. Have a nice big glass of water with it or you'll add another 260 calories and 69g of carbs if you add on the pop they also try to sell you.

Enjoy your pizza however, who know what happens tomorrow.

And TT, you were trying to lose weight at one time, were you not?
Did you succeed?

I hope you enjoy a pizza once in a while.

It was hard work and too much effort. Some guys on Youtube are talking about one meal a day.
Maybe that's easier than biking an hour a day.

You know the benefits of good nutrition and how to eat a balance diet. Eating one meal a day doesn't do any good if there's 5,000 calories consumed and harms the body as you well know. Make your own pizza.

We're making home made pizza tonight. We do it all the time and I never considered a "right or wrong" way to devour the whole thing.

Quit messin' with us TT. :135:

6 or 8 slices! That's more than I could eat in an entire day, much less a meal.

Average takeout large sized pizza, I'll eat 3 slices if I'm hungry. Maybe 4 slices if I'm really hungry. I agree tho - a salad or veggies 1st is a much healthier approach.

When we were kids and not so great at eating our veggies, my mom came up with a great strategy. Come dinner we were always starving (or thought we were). When Mom began making the meal, the 1st thing she would do was put out a plate of veggies. My brother and I would have veggies to snack on while we waited. In hindsight, it worked great - we stopped bugging her with "when is supper going to be ready?" and since we were hungry with no other alternative, we gobbled those greens down. Same strategy now in use with my boys.

Pizza is always my most favorite fast food item. I even don't know when the right and wrong time to eat this. But all the time I like it to eat.

Some people eat their pizza with a fork and knife, some with their hands. Don't see either way as being right or wrong.

Eat like the Italians do .... first bite off the tip then fold pizza in half like a pizza sandwee and enjoy. If you do it this way it's like eating a half piece at a time! I swear it's how they do it, I just witnessed this first hand with my very own eyes.
I can, I will, I do
