How would you have done that without the internet?

Great though. Therefore all Millenials can also do this

I really don't consider that as being a necessary survival skill of any sort unless that is your occupation.

Just read the first post and several after it so this may have been mentioned or shared already but I would suggest to the OP to track down the documentary by Peter York called the Hipster Handbook. Originally aired on the BBC. Very satirical and enlightening at the same time.

How is it any different from changing your oil in that case? It's basic computer knowledge. There are people who do such a thing as an occupation though where you can have it done.

I could name a number of scenarios where old-school survival skills would keep you alive and knowing how to change your hard drive would be useless.

But obviously you realize the reverse is true? Older generations who don't know anything at all about computers really are at a disadvantage in the job market and so many other areas of life when compared to millenials. The world is different now.

The only survival testing situation I've encountered over the course of last 10 years is finding right flavoured tacos when I really wanted tacos.

That's just one of the hardships millenials must face.

How about being able to take care of something so that it can last.

Not everything should be treated as throw away.

( to be fair, not just a Millenial thing.)

But, a thing I just can't wrap my head around.

You know Boy Scouts, cadets, learning etc all exist in modern times too right? You're self deluded if you don't think anyone born in the last 30 years knows any survival skills.

Wait, is he suggesting changing your oil is an "old school survival skill?"

Talk about moving goal posts.

I'm still waiting for zzontar to answer why it's okay for older generations to not know the "basic survival skill" (lol) of changing your oil, but its not okay for millennials.

When crap hits the fan I'd rather have old school "MacGyver" skills than millenial skills any day.

Yes, one day your oil-changing skills will save your life.
