Pet owners who leave their pet in the vehicle on hot days, it's impossible to fix stupid. impo the authorities should fine them ($$$) plus minimum 50+ hours of community service i.e cleaning up dog sh t

There's actually a bylaw in the City of Penticton prohibiting leaving dogs in cars in hot weather and also cold weather. I think its a minimum $50 fine, up to $2000.

But if the bylaw does not prohibit the idling of vehicles, pet owners will skirt the law. The only exception should be service dogs.

Happened to stop at Home Hardware today and on the front door it said bring your dog inside if it's on a leash, don't leave it in the car.
