Hurricane Harvey/Irma
started raining Thursday in some parts of Texas. It might not stop until next week, thanks to lumbering Hurricane Harvey.
Harvey is an unusual tropical cyclone, one that will bring different concerns to different areas vulnerable to such a huge rainmaker with incredibly powerful winds
https://www.google.ca/amp/s/amp.cnn.com ... index.html
texas is going to face a disaster in next 48 hours to 5 days . on the coast they expect 12 to 15 feet storm surge , and it is expected to have 150 mph winds in the eyewall zone.
this is going to be compounded by the fact this storm is going to stall out and some areas can expect 30 to 50 inches of rainfall caused by the storm over the next 5 days .
worst storm to hit since early 2000s. this is going to be historic event . people will die because they wont leave and the window to leave is closing fast

They're saying some places could get 12-15 inches of rain.

Don't worry. This is all "fake news".
Now get back to burning coal

A tornado warning has been issued for Galveston County, Texas, as Hurricane Harvey churns toward the state.

Re: Hurricane Harvey
Thankfully my grandmother finally agreed to go stay with friends instead of staying by herself ... it's tough to convince a self-sufficient 91-year-old woman that her kids and grandkids and great-grandkids would be less stressed if she didn't just ride it out since she has enough food to last a few days of no electricity ... they've issued a mandatory evac order for her town but that won't cause her to head out ...
They're predicting it'll go in at Corpus Christi ... then get pushed back out ... gain more strength ... and loop back to hit again at Galveston ... hoping this is just another fake news report to distract us from Trump's antics ...

I'm watching the weather channel and they're telling people to get out. It's up from a cat. 2 to a cat. 3.

Re: Hurricane Harvey
No, but it must be close. There was just a boneheaded reporter standing on a street trying to report the weather and stand up at the same time. He was having a hard time with both. He said the winds were 60-70 mph. Looking at the map they are showing, it looks like it is not far from hitting. (Sorry, I have just kind of been paying attention...been reading posts on here. lol)
Edited to add: okay, it looks like it will make landfall around 8:00 our time tonight.
