Just E of the airport. They have issued a warning for pilots called a Notam (notice to airmen).

CZVR PURSUANT TO CAR 601.14, 601.15(B) AND 601.16,
FOREST FIRE FM CENTRE 493741N 1154234W (APRX 3 NM NE CYXC AD)
RESTRICTED AIRSPACE ESTABLISHED RADIUS 5 NM
CENTRE 493741N 1154234W SFC TO 7000 FT MSL.
AERIAL FIRE SUPRESSION IN PROGRESS.
EXC WHERE OPR UNDER CAR 601.17, ALL ACFT SHALL REMAIN CLEAR
INCLUDING UNMANNED AIR VEHICLES. DAYLIGHT HRS
1709011833 TIL APRX 1709020500

As the notam has a 5 nautical mile radius and the fire is only 3 NM away the airport is now in the restricted airspace. Air Canada has already cancelled flights. Pacific Coastal flight from Kelowna has the word :diverted" for the status of today's flight.

Wildfire BC ( not as up to date as facebook?)

Fire Number: N11999
Date of Discovery 2017-9-1
Suspected Cause Person
Approximate Location St. Mary's River
Estimated Size (HA) 2.10
Stage of Control New
Fire of Note URL
Why use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice.
