They've "fixed" nothing. There is no plan to "fix" anything. After 16 years you think they would have had an idea on how and would let us know. I guess it's a secret. Or just gross incompetence.
Why use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice.

What do you see as THE problem?

Gee, Horgan seemed to think THE portables were a problem.

Portables in Surrey were a hot topic in the lead-up to May’s provincial election.

Along the campaign trail, then-candidate John Horgan vowed that if elected, his New Democratic Party would eliminate portables in Surrey.

Wait, are you suggesting he was promising to eliminate them, even though they weren't actually a problem?

JagXKR:

Doesn't seem you read much in the way of news, eh?

Disability rates upped, tolls removed, kids in care get free postsecondary education, rural school staffing a priority, Site C sent to BCUC as it should have, ICBC being addressed, Massey bridge under review....

Not too shabby after 33 days which includes setting up cabinet posts, mandates, other staffing, wildfires (and increased funding for evacuees through Red Cross, small businesses affected), and trips to Ottawa and briefing on softwood lumber negotiations).

I am rather sick of the ChristyLiberal supporters' sour grapes.

The portables are "A" problem. But there are other pressing problems that need to be dealt with.

It's called prioritizing. Something the BC Liberals were unwilling to do unless it resulted in wealthy donors kicking in mega $$ to tell Christy what her priorities needed to be - from their POV!!

Testing the confidence of the house is not an occurrence that happens automatically with a change of government. How would you see the testing of the confidence of the house happening on the first sitting of the Legislature?

They send the response to the lt governor after the throne speech debate, pass a budget, or committee of supply. Until one of those is done they have not tested the confidence of the house.

No, you are wrong. If ANY Bills are considered for First Reading, including the budget, the confidence of the house is proven.

Consider this as what happened this past summer:

The British Columbia NDP and Green parties successfully combined forces on Monday to defeat two pieces of legislation that had been crafted to win their votes – a strategic move by the opposition parties to demonstrate that the province's Liberals can no longer govern.

The high-stakes game being played out in the Legislature this week is expected to lead to a vote of confidence that could topple the governing Liberals on Thursday.

The BC Liberals presented a wide-reaching bill on Monday to reform campaign finance in British Columbia – a proposed law tailored to meet the demands of the NDP and the Greens for a new set of rules that would end the province's reputation as the "wild west" of political financing in Canada.

Another bill offered the three members of the Green caucus official party status in the Legislature, which would have brought new powers and more financial support to the three MLAs who are currently treated as Independents.

But with a combined total of 44 votes in the 87-seat legislature, the opposition did not allow the bills to be read.

NDP leader John Horgan responded with a motion asking for an early vote of confidence. Both he and Green leader Andrew Weaver stated that they are only interested in testing the confidence of the House, and will not vote for any Liberal measures until that has been accomplished.

So regardless of what Urbane and others claim that the NDP and Greens 'voted' against big money and party status of the Greens, the Bills weren't even accepted for First Reading. The Bills were DOA.

Of course there are other pressing problems. But on the campaign trail they promised they'd fix the problem. (And I'd say it's pressing for Surrey parents and school boards and teaches. Wouldn't you?)

You're suggesting that while they were blaming and shaming the previous government, they had no notion, none whatsoever, of how the previous government should fix the problem. If that's the case, why can't the return the calls and admit they have no plan and are busy prioritizing and give Surrey folk some idea as to when they might get around to figuring it out?

Instead, they just don't answer. Not a hint of what they're up to. My goodness, is this government showing arrogant disregard for their public? Lack of accountability? What would you call it?

And you're back to talking about Clark. Too funny! Well, why am I not surprised? It's all blame and shame, right?

No plan for the portables. Just blame and shame and empty promises. No plan.

If the union bill and green bill were matters of confidence, why didn't the house fall then and there?

^^How many times do I have to repeat the fact that those Bills were NEVER accepted for First Reading!! Thus, there was NEVER any vote with regard to content.

The NDP and Greens refused to discuss ANY bills/business put forth by the Liberals. Thus the Confidence vote. The Liberals lost. Live with it...

Repeated by you many times, perhaps a better way to describe it would be " The NDPG ignored anything that might have delayed Mr Horgan from visiting Government House. Why bother with the business of government when it doesn't serve your purpose "
Once I thought I was wrong.....but I was mistaken...
