Why bring them to a pub ?

Every hockey game being played is on every TV and they make better natchos. As for epoxing them to vulgarity , there's more of that in the school yard than the CHILD FRIENDLY section of the pub.

Because I like a good beer that doesn't come in a can and my daughter is a pretty good conversationalist ... yesterday we had a fun discussion about what metal is (leading into an explanation of elements and more material science) ... the day before it was the mystery of why water gets bigger when it goes into it's frozen state ...

I've never minded kids in a pub and I like the ones that have separate areas to accommodate families and those that want a pint without kids. I'll only mention a preference sometimes based on noise level (and that could mean either side).

Children do not belong in pubs... I would never bring my child to subject them to gambling, vulgarity, etc... it seems that some people i this forum think it is their god given right to flaunt their privilege to bring their kids to the bar/ pub with them... there are hundreds of restaurants to choose from.. why bring them to a pub?

It depends on what kind of a pub it is. Clearly some downtown "watering hole" that's full of drunks would not be suitable, but many pubs are more like restaurants than pubs, and VERY respectable. No problem taking kids into a place like that PROVIDED you're willing to supervise them properly (don't let them run around and get in the way of wait staff, and don't allow them to annoy other patrons while you enjoy some "adult" time). Because, as has already pointed out, "kids will be kids" and may well do both of those things if the adults allow them to. But the adults should NOT allow them to, because it's both inconsiderate and dangerous to let kids run wild in restaurants and/or bars.

I'm not a fan of kids in general. Even the best of the "good kids" is still a kid and I'd prefer to not see them in a pub, bar, casino, or beach resort. That being said, if I go to a kid friendly establishment like Boston Pizza then I know what I'm getting into. If I go to a pub, I don't want to see kids there... whether they're well behaved or not.

you have options.... Like a phone call ahead of time to see if the place you want to go is kid friendly or not..

Pleas use that option.

I'd prefer you kid haters stayed away from the few kid friendlies anyway .

I don't recall ever having a meal interrupted by someone else's kids. Guess I minded my own table and paid attention to who was at it.

I'd like a restaurant that bans everyone but me and critters, that I can sneak my carbs to under the table. Oh wait, that home, yes, maybe I should just eat at home. Probably the best way to avoid people I wish to avoid.

Just go anywhere nicer after 7pm and the little kids will be home in bed. As a mom of three, I am disheartened by how anti-child our society has become. Children are seen as a nuisance, in the way, and their innocence is not protected. Everywhere you look are over sexualized ads and scary displays/ads. There was a naked woman on a magazine cover right at my son's eye height the other day. The traditional family unit is being discouraged and not supported. If you choose not to have kids, go for it. But don't expect the hard working parents out there to bend over backwards for you.

I'm childless as well . It would create an interesting dynamic . One place would get customers without kids the other would draw families . I guess it's already set up that way . U have family restaurants witch are dying off and then u have pubs and cactus clubs. I tend to prefer pubs myself . Not many kids in a Canadian pub . Not like in Spain

When I go on vacation to an all inclusive resort, it's always adult only. nice and quiet around the pool!

I'm an adult-only pub person. I've had my kids and spent meals out with them in child-friendly restaurants with other people's kids. Now it's my time.

As was said earlier...if I go to a "family" restaurant, of course I expect kids to be there. Not at pubs though - there has to be somewhere that's sacred to adults only lol.
