Thinking the oncoming driver inadvertently left his high beams on, he did what he’d done dozens of times previous: he tapped his brights as a friendly notice to the other motorist.
“It was just real quick, a heads up,” he said.
“Maybe a tenth of a second.”

I have no reason not to believe the story, with the detail provided by the motorist, Mr. Jeff McLenaghan.
Where I come from, ticketing a driver for even leaving their high beams on was described as falling under the "Poultry Act".
"Poultry Act" ? (Chicken "bleep")

Thank you, for posting a better link than I had. The video does show the whole scenario, but I can't seem to post it.
As the driver said, "“I’m not trying to smear the police, I’ve got friends who are police, just think this could have been handled differently.”

Sheriff's in Alberta are not just around Court Houses like here in BC.
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests.

Sheriffs in AB do Highway Patrol.
If this is an example of how they do things, perhaps they should remain escorting prisoners and working around court houses.
