AB Man Ticketed for Flashing High Beams

“On Monday evening, Jeff McLenaghan was travelling north on Centre St. in High River just past the traffic circle when he was dazzled by a bright set of headlights coming in the opposite direction.

Thinking the oncoming driver inadvertently left his high beams on, he did what he’d done dozens of times previous: he tapped his brights as a friendly notice to the other motorist.

“It was just real quick, a heads up,” he said.

“Maybe a tenth of a second.”

I have no reason not to believe the story, with the detail provided by the motorist, Mr. Jeff McLenaghan.

Where I come from, ticketing a driver for even leaving their high beams on was described as falling under the "Poultry Act".

Sheriff's in Alberta are not just around Court Houses like here in BC.

Sheriffs in AB do Highway Patrol.

If this is an example of how they do things, perhaps they should remain escorting prisoners and working around court houses.
