Did you know N Korea spend more money in one year on their military than USA spends on pizzas?

The North Koreans spend more on their military than Zimbabwe and Botswana and Mozambique spend on their military, combined.

So where's the threat?

That's the same as Zimbabwe shown here.

They have a huge and well equipped military. Even in a conventional war they could pretty much destroy South Korea and Japan. The population is indoctrinated from birth to be loyal to the regime which is paranoid and probably delusional. If the US launches an attack on North Korea, they will invade South Korea, destroy the major cities, and also probably attack Japan. If the US nukes North Korea, they will also destroy South Korea and probably Japan in the process.

Even if they only have one ICBM with a nuclear warhead, that's enough to kill millions of people in LA, Seattle, Tokyo, New York, Vancouver etc. If attacked, I doubt that they will hesitate to use it even though they know they would be wiped off the face of the earth.

Comparing North Korea to Russia and China with their massive nuclear arsenals is irrelevant. When was the last time China or Russia said "we're going to nuke you - we're going to wipe you off the face of the Earth?" They have coexisted with the US as nuclear powers for give or take 60 years. They are logical, mature, and reasonable world powers, unlike North Korea which is threatening to launch a nuclear attack on the US. Who knows if they are serious or not, but do you take a chance and hope that they're bluffing?

That's what's so scary about North Korea. The last person in the world who should be dealing with North Korea is a hot headed bully and loser like Donald Trump.

I'm sure people were freaking out when Russia and China developed their own bombs, but at the time, they didn't start threatening to launch nuclear attacks on the US. I'm sure there were discussions in the White House about whether or not the US should launch pre-emptive strikes on Russia.

I think North Korea is a completely different animal though. I wish the Chinese would just go in there and clean house.

Spite and retaliation. You attack us, and we will wipe out your allies in Japan and South Korea. North Korea is nothing like Iraq. North Korea has nuclear weapons - there's not dispute. Those photos remind me of the Viet Kong, and we all know how that turned out for the Americans.

See - here's the thing. Germany almost did it. They almost got Russia. They came close, like
the Canucks did in Boston that one time. They had a chance.
So it was almost logical for Germany to go for it.

But the Viet Kong wouldn't want to attack USA because they'd need to borrow some boats to do it. And no
one goes around lending boats to war-starters.

It would not be logical for Viet Kong to attack America. And same for North Korea - it would not make sense for
North Korea to attack America - they'd run out of rice in the first month, and probably have to beg
Japan for some rice to finish the war. and you know what Japan would say.

"NO RICE FOR YOU!"


Japan would not give them free rice to finish the war they started.

Well they have a lot of people in their military, how modern and effective, we might find out. I think we have to take notice of the physical condition of the N Korean soldier that defected a few weeks ago.

South Korea, yes, would suffer greatly in an attack, before, of course N Korea was flattened.

As for Japan, it doesn't have a large military, but what it does have is modern.

In a time of war, the number of personnel available and money is a major factor.

N Korea spends $15 billion, which represents 20.8% of it's GDP
Japan spends $46.1 billion, which represents 1% of it's GDP

N Korea has 1,190,000 active personnel in it's military, Japan only 247,150

But as for military age, N Korea has 6,515,279 and Japan has 27,301,443 over 4 times.

Also if Japan was attacked that would mean war with the USA. Japan and the US have the US Japan Security Alliance. The agreement basically says if Japan lets the US maintain military bases in Japan, they will defend Japan if attacked.

So with the US involved, one should look at their stats..

USA spends $554,200 billion, which represents 3.8% of it's GDP
Has 1,301,300 active personnel and has 73,270,043 available

In looking at stats and numbers, it's difficult to really compare. For example submarines, N Korea has 75, the US only 70. Is there anybody out there that thinks there is any comparison between the capabilities of the US sub fleet verses the N Korean ?

As for N Korea, I feel sorry for their citizens. They are kept in the dark without access to world news to make informed decisions. If things go crazy, the average N Korean is going to suffer horribly all for the wrong reasons.
